Dr. Miguel Ángel González-Quiroga
KEYNOTE/CONFERENCIA MAGISTRAL
Miguel Ángel González-Quiroga taught History of Mexico and the United States at the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León from 1983 until 2011. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Houston and his Master’s degree in Latin American History at the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico. He has authored, edited or translated six books and has written numerous articles and book chapters on the Texas-Mexico border region. His most recent book is War and Peace on the Rio Grande Frontier, 1830-1880. Apart from teaching and research, he served as city councilman and state representative in his native state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. During his early life he lived in the United States and served in Vietnam while in the Marine Corps. At present he is a visiting researcher at the University of Texas, San Antonio.
